Being an LCC coach is a very rewarding experience – just ask any of our 65 coaches across the country! Applying to become an LCC coach can seem daunting at first, but we’re here to explain the process.
First, what are we looking for in an LCC coach? Passion for helping and interacting with SWE collegiate and/or professional sections depending on your experience. Effective communication including being responsive, reliable, and able to build SWE relationships. Consulting skills such as presenting personal and organizational data, training and facilitating, and running group meetings to involve all participants.
Here are the four easy steps in the application and interview process for the Leadership Coaching Committee:
- Get involved in SWE! LCC coaches typically have held multiple leadership positions and have a decent amount of SWE knowledge and experiences to share with sections.
- Fill out an application. The application includes attaching a SWE resume and listing the contact information for two SWE references.
- Send your application to your Region lead, LCC Chair, and Chair-Elect. Contact information can be found here.
- Participate in a phone interview with your Region lead. The lead will ask you questions about your SWE experiences and coaching/consulting skill set. In addition, the lead will reach out to your two SWE references.
And, that’s it! If your skill set and SWE experiences align with the LCC’s mission to promote section vitality, we’ll welcome you to the committee! Also, the application process is rolling throughout the fiscal year, so you don’t have to remember pesky deadlines.
